Pioneer Days

 We went to the Kent's house for Pioneer day with the first and second wards here in The Dalles. They had a huge water slide that Stacie immediately wanted to go on. I thought there was no way she would actually go down it! Two teenaged boys went down first and then Stacie climbed to the top with Adam sat down all on her own and away she went. The little daredevil went down about 15 times. It went really fast and she would scream all the way down. I was way more scared then she was. They had a trampoline in the ground at the end to catch you. One person even bounced off of the tramp and landed on the dirt, of course I didn't laugh, (out loud) haha.

 

They also had pony rides and big horses and a petting zoo. The BBQ was alot of fun and we got to meet more of our ward.

The Dalles

 The country here is alot different then the country in idaho. It is all hills and most of the farming is hay.  It takes some getting used to. This is what it looks like on all sides and the road just winds through it all. This picture was taken a few miles outside of The Dalles headed towards Redmond.

                    Stacie had just run home when she saw the ball roll by. She picked it up and threw it back to   the outfield!

Grants 2 month Well Child Check

Grant is two months old and his weight is 13.69 pounds and he is 23 inches long. He is in the 83% for weight and 87% for height. He is my big little baby! He was also blessed the first sunday of June and it was great to have most of my family to celebrate his special day. It is still super hard to get a good picture of these two.

It is about time that I post about the birth of our little boy. Life has been crazy so we will see if I can get this done. I will try to not be to graphic. I went into my scheduled 38 week appointment and had an ultrasound. It showed that Grant was getting pretty big and my blood pressure was still high. We decided to induce that day so off to the hospital I went. After five tries using both of my arms an IV was started.
6:00pm-pitocin started and 4cm dilated. 30% effaced -1 station
6:06pm- Waters broken. Dilated to a 5
8:00pm dilated 5 1/2 pitocin bumped to a 2 and 30% effaced
9:00pm dilated to a 6- 80% effaced
10:00pm dilated to a 6- 95% effaced
10:15pm urge to push dilated to an 8
10:30pm Very big urge to push dilated to a 9
10:40pm Complete (10) able to start pushing
10:44pm Grant is born 7lbs 1ounce. 20 inches. Head 14inches

I had been having contractions and non stress tests for two weeks and my blood pressure was high and I was dilated to a 3, I was so ready to have this baby. I went in for my 38 week appointment and due to my gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia we decided to go ahead with the induction that day. I got to the hospital around five and after several attempts to start an IV she got one started. Good thing I don't mind needles and she was super nice. Pitocin was started at a 1 at 6pm, My doctor came in at the same time to check and see if my bag of waters could be broken. My nurse Sarah had checked me right before the pitocin was started and I was dilated to a 4. Dr. Hughes checked me and I was at a 5, just 6min later, so my water was broken. 8pm rolls around and my pain level is about a 4 with contractions every three minutes or so. I was now only dilated to 5 1/2 so the pitocin was bumped to a 2. My pain level was still around a 4 and at 9pm I was dilated to a 6. I was effacing but not dilating and in my opinion it was going so slow. My pain level was now at about a 5 and the nurses kept comming in and saying that I didn't even look like I was in labor. I was thinking it was because nothing was happening!! It was 10pm, four hours later and I was only at a 6! I sat up in bed and dropped one leg on each side of the bed. I told Adam that "this is going so slow" and my bum hurt from being in bed for four hours and I was only dilated to a 6. My pain level was at about a 6 and I was a tiny bit cranky. I started rocking back and forth and I felt a change. Adam kept asking if he should call the nurse. I told him not to push the button I was just rocking and nothing was happening. The next second I am groaning and my body is pushing. It came out of nowhere! My pain level was still at a 6 and I was waiting for all the pain. The nurses came in because the monitors had gone all screwy when I sat up and as they were walking in the room thinking all was normal they see me sitting up in bed very obviously pushing. Oh I forgot to mention that I had a student nurse with my nurse Leah. My nurse rushes over and she and Adam get me to lay back down on the bed. She checks me and I am at an 8 and it is 10:15pm. She tells me not to push and calls my Dr. If you have ever had a natural labor you know that it is so so so hard to NOT PUSH. Every contraction my body wanted to push and I had to force myself not to by breathing and not moving a muscle. This was the hardest part for me. All I wanted to do was push. I lost my concentration durring one contraction and let my body push and both Adam and the nurse are telling me to stop, I guess Adam was lightly slapping my face. I regained control and remember saying sorry for pushing haha.  It is now 10:30 and the urge to push is even worse. I am dilated to a 9 with a tiny lip and my nurse is telling me to hold on through one more contraction. My doctor comes in the room and I am saying " oh man, oh man, oh man, over and over again between contractions. At 10:40  I am dilated to a 10 and they said I could push. Let me tell you that is the greatest feeling in the world. I pushed for 4 minutes and Grant was born and placed right on my chest. It was an amazing natural labor and delivery and because my pain level only got to a 6 and pushing was so fast it was actually easy as far as labor goes. My doctor told me it was good for a student nurse to see a natural delivery without all the screaming and dramatics. I was pretty proud of myself not once did I scream or yell. I did have a tiny tear and needed a few stitches but didn't need any pain meds at all. Grant had bruising around his nose and chin. I was discharged the next day at 11 but because Grants glucose levels could not get under control we had to stay one more day wich was really hard because I was so ready to go and I was actually discharged and didn't need any help but had to stay in the hospital room in that bed that I was so sick of. All in all it was a fantastic labor and delivery.

It is so hard to get a good picture of a 4 year old and a 1 month old! Whew, when one was looking the other one was crying or picking the grass or talking or looking at the sky. I think we had more trouble with  Stacie then we did with Grant. Adam would hold Grant until he was calm and then hurry and give him to Stacie. I think we got a few good ones though. Can't wait for family pictures I bet that is going to be a blast, haha.

Easter

We had such a fun easter. Saturday we had breakfast and an easter egg hunt with our ward. Stacie dyed easter eggs for over an hour. She loved watching the eggs change color. When all the eggs were dyed she then put them in a different color to see what they would look like. We did end up with a few brown "very beautiful" eggs. Grant even got in on the action with the help from his daddy. On sunday we had a wonderful easter dinner with all of Adam's family. We had over 300 eggs for 11 kids. They had so much fun.
