Hospital Gown

Fran made me a hospital gown!! She has made these for friends and family the past couple of years and it is finally my turn to wear one! I am so excited!

Baby Grant

Where to begin? Because of pregnancy induced hypertension I was sent to the hospital on March 8 for a Non Stress Test and some lab work. Everything was ok and I was sent home to do a 24 hour urine test, so much fun. The 24 hour test showed that I had mild pre-eclampsia. I then had another Non Stress Test done on the 13 and was given medication to lower my blood pressure. On the 18 I had contractions that were 5-8 min apart for two hours so I called labor and delivery and they said that because of my PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension) I should come in to get monitored. My contractions were about every 2-6 min and we were at the hospital from 1am to 5am hooked up to the NST (non stress test) they checked me and I was dilated to a 3. On a scale of 1-10 for pain my contractions were a 3 and Adam and I were so tired! My contractions were now 7 min apart and I just wanted to go home and sleep! So when asked what we wanted to do I said "Can we go home and just come back if they get worse?" So off to bed we went. Oh, and I had to do another 24 hour test.  Then on the 22 my blood pressure got really high and I called my doctor and he said to go to labor and delivery (again) and be monitored. Baby was doing well and as long as I laid on my left side my blood pressure stayed under 150/90, while on my back it was 154/94. Lab work was good so we were told it was ok to go home and stay on my left side as much as I could. I had a scheduled OB appointment the next day the 23 and again he sent me over to labor and delivery for another NST, he didn't want me to go the weekend without one, he said if anything came back elevated we would induce. All labs came back fine and I was now dilated to a 4. For some reason I have a ton of contractions while in the hospital and then they go away about two hours after I get home. Very weird. I have an appointment on Monday the 26 and he said that if my blood pressure is high in the office we will skip the NST and just induce. I will be one day shy of 38 weeks. Whew, next time I go to labor and delivery I really want to bring home a baby! Fran and Helen were in town on the 23 so they came to the hospital to visit me, the NST take about three hours in labor and delivery so I was super bored, Helen had Dillon with her and when they walked in the nurse at the desk had to check the baby carrier before they came in to make sure there was really a baby in it and that they weren't baby stealers. We thought it was funny but it is really nice to know they have good security!
